What are the different manosphere eras?

Mon May 27, 2019 5:15 pm

I think of the eras as:

Manosphere 1.0: The PUA era (2005-2011) -- "Just follow this formula and you can bang pretty girls no matter what you look like or how little money you make." It seems to be assumed that if you can bang a girl, you can also have a successful relationship with her, because she'll want to hang onto you once you've attracted her, built comfort, and seduced her.

Manosphere 2.0: The red pill era (2012-2014) -- Lots of talk about AWALT, alphas and betas, etc. Men begin talking about the dark side of female nature and how feminism has unleashed women to become hypergamous sluts, bitter and nasty spinsters, etc. The prevalance of false rape allegations and such hit the radar screen. MGTOWs, men who refuse to settle down with a chick for a committed relationship, become a thing.

Manosphere 3.0: The political era (2015-2018) -- Men begin looking for political solutions, and talking about reinstituting patriarchy. Roosh launches neomasculinity, a fusion of antifeminist and antisocialist ideas, which fails to gain any traction. Race is a divisive issue in his multiracial, multicultural online community, with race threads being a common provocation for bans. Roosh becomes nationally famous when his meetups get cancelled.

Manosphere 3.5: The white nationalist era (2017-2018) -- Chateau Heartiste goes racialist, and due to the censorship following the Unite the Right Rally, the Daily Stormer becomes nationally famous as a site for commentary that majors in racialism and minors in patriarchism. Roosh and his forum start addressing racially political issues, such as the migrant invasions, more.

Manosphere 4.0: The black pill era (2018-present) -- The manosphere begins to give up hope that Donald Trump is going to fix everything. Roosh gives up hope that he'll ever be able to find a decent wife. As lookism becomes a bigger deal, more men resign themselves to inceldom. Femceldom and emceldom become things, as it becomes evident a lot of women have slipped through the cracks without fatherly authority guiding them into marriage at a young age.

Manosphere 4.5: The clown world era (2019-present) -- "Clown world" becomes a common meme, as those who are beyond political anger now just watch the situation spiral further into absurdity. By this point, censorship has taken a heavy toll on manosphere figures like Roosh and Heartiste, who are throwing in the towel. Most of the incelosphere also succumbs to censorship, dropping its pro-rape and "go ER" rhetoric to avoid getting completely deplatformed.

Cool breakdown. I’d like to see approximate years next to each era.

Yeah, maybe we should put together a timeline of important events in the manosphere. I'll start a thread on that. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=35

Would you say the shift from 3 to 4 came with Charlottesville or Trump's pro-Israel State of the Union? Those seemed to be the two biggest events that took a lot of steam out of the alt right.

I think after C'ville, there was still some hope in electoral politics (e.g. through the campaigns of guys like Patrick Little) and in trolling the media. Also, Trump's response to C'ville gave some hope that maybe he wasn't going to totally cuck out. Even after the media attacked him, he stuck to his guns and said they were misrepresenting what he said. I'd say his 2019 SOTU was about the point at which we transitioned to clown world.

But C'ville did deter the Alt-Right from doing more major rallies, as they saw the police were going to side with Antifa. So in that sense, it served as a political black pill.

Culturally, 2018 saw a lot of setbacks, as guys in the manosphere reported that game was getting harder and harder, and the shut-it-downing continued to be ratcheted up. 2018 was also when the incelosphere peaked, causing "the black pill" to enter the mainstream lexicon. For that reason, it would be hard to say that the black pill era began any earlier than 2018.

In 2018, we saw the "big baller" part of the manosphere fading away as guys' morale slipped. The fact that Roosh is closing up the fornication shop is partly a reflection of, and response to, that; if his business hadn't peaked, maybe he'd have been able to score a decent wife by now by betabuxxing.

Another way in which Roosh got blackpilled was that, after he got kicked off of PayPal, Disqus, and Amazon, and couldn't make up for it by accepting cryptocurrencies and switching to alternative platforms, he realized the support of his community was no match for groups like the SPLC. Perhaps what he's doing now is a punishment of his community for not doing more to get him through that troubled time.

The deplatforming policy by Silicon Valley really has worked beyond the wildest soy-infused dreams of the people behind it. Without any revenue stream for red pill popularizers it seems like it's just the (((alt-lite))) left standing.

We still have the Daily Stormer, but Anglin only occasionally writes about the Woman Question. He says those are some of his most popular articles, though.

Alt-Lite and CivNats. But those disavowing idiots think they're not next. They're called "proto-Nazis" all the time.

That's just the true believers on the left that have been brainwashed into always thinking there's Nazis under the bed. The CivNats were subverted and taken control of by the Israel lobby, since they need a new host now that NeoCon is a dirty word. Then they settle in as controlled opposition for globohomo just so there's always some fake conservative pundit on the other side of the table in MSM "debates".
